Just a Note Garden Impressions Card

A Just a Note Garden Impressions card is a great way to say hello.. Tell someone you care about them more than facebook.   Like most projects I do, it’s not hard and only takes a few minutes to pull together.

Just a Note Card
Just a Note Card using Garden Impressions DSP

The colors in the Garden Impressions DSP are so bright and cheerful.  They coordinate with the new colors and so many of my favorite core colors. Also, these papers are double sided and most have a more solid-ish design on the flip side that could be used as a mat or coordinating background as well.  The sheets are 6×6 which is perfect for most projects and with 48 sheets for only $11, it’s a bargain.  All of the designs make it easy to add a sentiment and finish in a hurry.  That’s the kind of project I love when things get busy.

To bump this card up a little more, add a border around the sentiment using the Stained Glass thinlits.  When I first got this set, it looked a little formal and I wasn’t sure how fun it was going to be.  Now, the more I use it, the more I love it.  You can take that little square and use it in all kinds of ways.  This set also contains a smaller square and a rectangle that you’ll see in future posts.  Try it out for yourself and see how versatile it really is!

Oak Tree Card using Rooted in Nature stamps

Oak TreeThis oak tree card using the Rooted in Nature stamps and matching die set is so masculine and peaceful in its simplicity.  The bundle from the new 2018 catalog is going to be one of your favorites.

I love the combination of Tranquil Tide and Soft Suede.  It just makes you relax.  Stamp and die cut the big tree and pop it up with Dimensionals.  Knot a little Linen Thread on the side to add interest.  And you can easily make your own background with one of the leaf stamps included in this versatile set.  Click here for the post on this easy technique.

Amazing You Graduation Card

Amazing You Graduation Card is easy to createThis Amazing You graduation card is easy to create with the Celebrate You thinlits and Amazing You stamp set from this year’s Sale-A-Bration.  Don’t you want to tell that special grad that they truly are amazing with a card customized just for them!  It’s really easy to do when you use parts of their announcement as an accent.  They almost always have the school emblem on it somewhere.   You can also usually find one on the school website.  Simple cut it out using the Layering Circles Framelits and back it with the scalloped circle.

You can use the same circles set to cut a larger circle or use the Stitched Shapes Framelits like I did.  Then with the Flourish Thinlits die set you can add as much or as little embellishment as you like.  Be sure you have this beauty on hand.  Use it as the star of your card or just to add a special touch.

Make this card with papers to match your grad’s school colors.  I like to use foil sheets as an accent because they add such a special touch.  Also the metallic look goes with just about any background.  Emboss a plain paper with a simple embossing folder like Sparkle or create your own DSP to match you theme.  See this post to learn the technique.

The Amazing You stamp set is retired but the focus of this card, the Celebrate You thinlits, will be available in June with the new Annual Catalog.  Don’t miss it this time!

Create Your Own DSP with Timeless Textures Stamp Set

Create your own DSP in any color you want with the Timeless Textures and Work of Art stamp sets.

Create Your Own DSP with Timeless Textures Stamp SetThe other day, I needed a background for a card I was creating.  I had an idea in mind but the paper I had just wasn’t right.  I pulled out these versatile stamp sets and in a few minutes I had the perfect DSP to coordinate with my project.  See the finished product here.

I recommend stamping an entire page.  You already have the inks and idea so it’s good to make a little extra.  Just relax and be creative.  It’s surprising that sometimes your “mistakes” turn out to be the best parts.  And with a whole page to work with, you can cut out the parts you love and discard the rest.

For this “DSP”, I stamped the small swish from Work of Art in Pacific Point ink on a sheet of Very Vanilla. Next, I used the wood grain looking stamp from Timeless Textures to stamp Garden Green.  My Garden Green was fresh and very vibrant so I used the technique they call stamping off to create a more subtle color.  All you have to do is ink your stamp, stamp it once on a scrap paper to remove some of the ink, and then stamp it on your project.  I stamped a few of the circle swirls from the same set in Night of Navy.  Finally I added a few of the splatter spots randomly.

You can do so many things with this technique.  Pull out any stamp set and just start stamping on blank paper.  You’ll be surprised at what beautiful DSP you can create!

Rose Garden Thank You Card

Rose Garden Thank You Card
This Rose Garden Thank You card is a beautiful way to tell someone how much you appreciate them.  One simple die cut adds that little something special to your card that will make them say “wow”.  It’s perfect how it adds just a touch of interest but allows your beautiful paper to shine through.  And I just love the companion die cut that frames the sentiment.  Cut a second one in your base color, cut it in half and mount it behind to create a dimensional accent. The stamp set comes with the matching border to create that finished look.  You could use it to frame so many sentiments.  It can also be used as a gift tag for something special.  I’ve used mine as a container label, too!  Unfortunately the beautiful thinlits, Rose Garden, and coordinating stamp set, Rose Wonder are retiring and will only be available through May 31st.  Don’t miss out on this great die package and all the thoughtful sentiments packed into this versatile set.  Make sure you grab it soon or it’ll be gone…

The “DSP” paper, mounted on an A4 card of Night of Navy is a DIY creation using the Timeless Textures and Work of Art stamp sets and Garden Green, Pacific Point, and Night of Navy ink.  These sets are so simple to use and allow you to create your own “DSP” in your own colors for any project.  Be sure to check in later this week when we’ll look at a quick how-to for this easy technique.

Match Book Treat Wrapper

I love Ghirardelli Squares and often use them as an after dinner or take home goodie for my friends. This little match book treat wrapper is perfect to create a custom made and memorable treat. Just match the paper to your décor or occasion to enhance your table setting or place them in a basket or dish to give on the way home.

Match Book Treat Wrapper

The Scalloped Tag Topper punch makes this so simple. It is one of my favorites because it is so versatile. Use the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and the Classic Label punch to add the sentiment of your choice.

Flip Top Box with Petal Passion DSP

This little flip top box is easy to make and works with lots of different papers and embellishments.

Flip Top Box Petal Passion

I made this simple version with the Petal Passion DSP in the 2018 Occasions catalog and the new Stampin’ Blends pens, casing (copy and share) from a youtube video by Angela Pyjas. The paper is black and white and perfect to color with the new Stampin’ Blends markers. I wasn’t convinced these markers were a “must have” when they first came out because I had just invested in the Stampin’ Write marker sets. I have to admit that I was wrong. I LOVE them! They make artist quality coloring so easy even I can do it. And I use them right alongside my Stampin’ Write markers for more color options.
The base of the box was made with Bermuda Bay and the markers are Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, and Old Olive blenders used with the Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, and Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write markers. The ribbon is Hello Honey from a few years ago but Crushed Curry satin ribbon would be perfect.
The paper is only available through May 31st so grab it while you can!

You’ve Got This-An All Occasion Encouragement Card

There are times when we all need to hear someone say- You’ve Got This.  Today’s card idea is perfect for all kinds of occasions and is just the thing to let someone know you’re thinking of them.  Maybe a friend is trying to recover from the flu or just got a new job that’s a little scary.  Send a little bit of encouragement in the mail to brighten their day.

The sentiment is from the You’ve Got This two part stamp set in this year’s Annual Catalog.  The cutout is made using the Petals & More Thinlit Dies from the new Occasions Catalog.  It is so easy to make and looks like you spent all day.

You've Got This Cutout
You’ve Got This Encouragement Card

The card base is made from Night of Navy card stock  The next layer is Lemon Lime Twist. I have to admit that I underestimated this little gem in the 2017-2019 In Color Collection.  It adds a pop to so many different color schemes.  On top of that is a layer of Bermuda Bay cut just an 1/8 inch smaller than the Lemon Lime Twist.

Die cut the leafy branch from a square of Wild Wasabi.  Keep the cut out for another project and use the negative for this card.   Cut the lacy strip from a left over scrap of the Wild Wasabi.

Using a sponge dauber, lightly ink the edges of the Wild Wasabi pieces with Bermuda Bay ink.  Make sure you ink around the edges of the cutout, too.

Stamp the sentiment with Night of Navy ink.  Sprinkle it with clear embossing powder and heat set with your embossing tool for a nice finished look.

Adhere each of the layers with your favorite adhesive.  I use Snail Adhesive or Tear & Tape most often.  For the lacy strip, I used a spray adhesive from the local hobby store.  Lightly spray the back and position with tweezers.

Add a few Metallic Enamel Shapes and You’ve Got This!
